My 6 year old daughter Peighton loves to craft with me. I have learned from experience with her two older sisters, that these days won’t last forever. As a result, I try to savour them while I can. This weekend Peighton and I decided to get started on her class Valentines. On a recent trip to the local dollar store we had purchased some mini bubble wands. Our job was to create a little card to go with them. There were many stamp sets from the new Mini Catalogue for us to choose from for our project. In the end, Peighton loves animals so she was immediately drawn to the super cute images in Special Someone and I loved the sentiments in Heartfelt.

How we did it!

First, I cut Lovely Lipstick card stock (#146970) to a 3.5″x 2.5″ size and whisper white card stock (#100730) to a 3.25″x 2.25″ size.

Second, we chose to stamp with the sweet raccoon image. We stamped the detailed image first in Memento black ink (#132708) and then we stamped in the colour with the solid image in gray granite (#147118). We stamped the image off to the left of the card to ensure we had space to punch out a circle on the right and to add our sentiment. We used that circle to attach our bubble wands with white baker’s twine. Next we added the sentiment from Heartfelt.

*Note – I used a retired heart punch for the raccoon as it made it easy for Peighton to assist.*

Valentines

Peighton creating Valentines for her friends with the help of Stampin’ Up!

Lastly, Peighton will sign her name and/or add her own greeting to the back of each card. This will be an after school activity for her to work on throughout the week. We’ll also add a little bit of bling to each card before they get sent off because everything is better when it sparkles!

Leave us a comment to let us know what you think of our creation so far!
